News Section--Page IIA Sunday, March 26, 1950 THE OBSERVER EDITION OF OUR SUNDAY VISITOR 4 Scored lecting God In Structure Cincinnati, O -- Our American leaders, through a neglect of God, have come "perilously near to sur- rendering our national soul," ac- cording to the ReD. John J. Cav- anaugh, C.S.C., President of the University of Notre Dame. Father Cavanaugh made this ob- servation in an address delivered March 17 at a dinner of the Friend- ly Sons of St. Patrick held at the Hotel Netherland Plaza in Cincin- nati. "All of the nations have come to- gether to erect an international structure so that peace may bless the earth," Father Cavanaugh re- minded the St. Patrick Day gather-: ing. "There has been talk about fighting tuberculosis, about reduc- ing armaments and establishing a free-flow of the world's goods to this country and that. There has been talk about almost everything but God. An American representa- tive told me recently he had heard God mentioned only once in all of the conferences of the United Na- tions, and then by an insignificant representative from India "Are we now cowed into think- ing that God has nothing to do with the success or failure of such a gigantic undertaking?
