Lane, Bishop of Rockford. to the priests, Brothers, and Sisiers of O ,r Diocese and to our faithful laity, the Cath- olic Mission Office presents its annual report for the fiscal year ending Decem- ber 31, 1960. During the past year, the grand total re " ceived at this office was $92,572.30; slightly lower than last year's, but this is due to the fact that a total of more than $20,000.00 was left to the Propagation of the Faith last year" : through a will. Also, the recession has af-: fected quite a few of our people; but we are grateful that the drop was not more. This year's contributions brings the dona- tions of the past twenty-six year's to a grand total of $823,970.56. This year's contributions average out to approximately $0.64 per each person in the diocese. This is well above the national average of $0.30 per person, as esti- mated by Bishop Sheen. r If the Holy Father divided equally among the missibnaries, all the money the American Catholics gave to him, each would have re- ceived $80.00 for the year. This would leave nothing for schools, leper colonies, churches, hospitals, etc. And imagirie a missionary priest, Brother, or Sister living on $80.0 year! Remember--what we have has come from God. one should also sacrifice for the Prol> agation of the Faith in order to win advocates- and pleaders for the salvation of our own soul.
