PAGE 10 THE OBSERVER FRIDAY, MARCH 3, 1961 S ROCKFORD -- on Sunday, Feb. 19, 83 altar boys were in- vested into the Knights of the Altar sodiety at St. P e t e r church. The event was sponsor- ed by the Rockford Serra club. Chaplain for this new unit of the Knights of the Altar is the Rev. Bernard J. Mullane, assis- tant pastor at'St. Peter. 15 boys, pictured at the left, were invest- ed in cassock and surplice and received certificates as well as a pin to signify their rank. Eighth grade servers were awarded the rank of Grand Knight; seventF grade servers were made Knight Comman- ders; sixth graders received the Knight rank and fifth grade servers received the pin of Page. Honor Guard Pins In addition to the 83 boys hon- ored, Father Mullane bestowed Honor Guard Pins to the fol- lowing boys, currently enrolled INVESTED AS KNIGHTS OF THE ALTAR--Newly invested Thomas Didier and Vincent Murphy.
